Cantata Choir Update 11/13/24

  • Good day!  Good rehearsals!  Eight down; five remaining.
    • We think it’s fair to say those who have rehearsed & have materials are now “captive” & the gate is closed to any last-minute joiners.  YCAP will print our programs next week.
    • Thank you so much for your commitment & personal sacrifice!
  • If you have questions or concerns, please read thru previous updates (times & locations?  attire?  fragrances?  prayer partners?  potluck post-season party for entire Choir family; & more).
    • We do still have timing, tuning, wording & dynamics details to work thru.
    • Please continue to work with your rehearsal trax & listening CDs.  Exercise your singing muscles daily!  Continue to develop vocal strength & stamina.
    • If practical, please bring issues to our attention in the advance of rehearsals.
    • Whenever we gather, please check the Conflict Calendar to assure it represents your availability!
  • Final notice:  If you want to be heard regarding any of the solos, please speak up now!  Three weeks from now, we will have already finished in Amity, so prep time is tightening.
  • This Saturday:
    • Set-up crew, roadies, etc.:  7am breakfast at Jay’s.
    • On-site unload & assemble:  8am at JSLC.
    • Rehearsal:  9:30am-noon for ALL.
    • If you need seats in the risers, this is fair warning.
  • Promotion:
    • Additional flyers are printed & will be available Saturday.
    • Please passionately share your stories & invite your entire network & beyond.  Make use of all the tools we are providing.
  • We are concerned that our 1st two programs are a week apart & the 2nd will be broadcast.  That may be a wonderful “time apart”, however it leaves too much time for rough edges to develop.
    • We propose a 9:30-11:30am rehearsal on Saturday, December 7 (without equipment).
    • Feedback is welcome on this matter.
  • YOUTH CHORUS:
    • At this point, whenever there is a Choir rehearsal, there will be a Youth Chorus rehearsal.  Beth can explain details of that in conversation with parents if she needs adjustment.
    • Parental involvement cannot stop with encouraging practice at home & delivery to group rehearsals.
    • We depend upon parents to provide on-site support & supervision at our programs.  Beth trains & leads the music, but she is part of the orchestra & cannot sit quietly with the youth, keeping them orderly & having them prepared to quietly & quickly move on-stage.
    • The Chorus will sing the 3rd & 4th songs.  They may then sit quietly thru the program & bow with the Choir, or they may depart with their parents.
    • Bottom line:  Parents are part of the process & need to assist.
  • Thank you all!  Do your best to remain safe & healthy!  We’ll see you this Saturday (except Aaron, Dale, Justin, Kathy & MarkB) for rehearsal #9.  God bless you!
